Warm Water Therapy & Swimming

Long an integral part of human physical therapy, working-out in the water is now increasingly used with animals - for the all the same reasons. Water based exercise has been used for many years to heal and restore the body's inner biochemistry to a healthy equilibrium. 

Our eighty-two to ninety degree water, in a swim spa environment, provides one of the best forms of exercise for any dog.  Whether you are seeking to keep your athletic dog fit, your family pet maintained in good health, help your dog recover from surgery (or injury), or give your geriatric pal much needed relief from arthritis - the benefits of warm water exercise are amazing.  Each customized program is designed to meet your dog's specific needs. 

We also offer jetted hydrotherapy (whirl pool), WATSU and warm water massage for sore muscles and achy joints. The warmth of the water enhances circulation, helps to increase flexibility and mobility of muscles, tendons, ligaments that surround the joints.

Watsu, a form of massage/exercise done in the water, helps decrease muscle tension and increase range of motion. The support of the water provides relief from compression forces on the joints. The movements through the water provide gentle stretching into all ranges of the spine and extremities while taking pressure off the joints. Watsu decreases pain as well as muscle spasms and muscle guarding. It increases range of motion, and promotes profound relaxation. 

Exercises may be directed at helping your dog with strengthening specific muscles and increasing flexibility. Specific exercises can be utilized to help your dog regain the use of a foot or limb, improve cardio fitness & athletic perfomance, as well as injury prevention.  Also, ideal for keeping your dog in peak performance condition.

Spa

Massage - Just like people, dogs can benefit from therapeutic massage. The benefits include maintaining general well-being, post surgical recovery and athletic conditioning. Massage is perfect for the older dog,  and is also beneficial for dogs with behavioral challenges.

Extra Stuff - Pedicure, Ear cleaning, Anal Gland express - available on request. For these services, we request an appropriate donation, monies are given to local dog rescue (501c3) organizations.

Swimming is a great training tool, for behavior problems. The improved circulation, and positive environment allow the brain chemicals to change from negative (fear based adrenalines) to positive (confidence based endorphins). This opens up the possiblity to modify unwanted behavior, build confidence in shy dogs and curb aggression in socially challenged dogs. We work with local canine behavior specialists and trainers.
